Africa Day
2006 - Overview:
On Saturday,
13 May 2006 , the Africa Club at London Business
School hosted its 5th Africa Day conference on campus. The
School's vision is to be the pre-eminent global business school,
and this conference continues to support our vision by bringing
together some of the best minds and practitioners in business
to help inspire a socio-economic renaissance in Africa.
The theme of this
year's conference - Africa 2020: A Vision for Empowering
an Enterprising People. It centers on our belief
that entrepreneurship and innovation must play a pivotal role
in empowering Africans to take charge of their destiny. In
particular, the conference explored the evolution of African
society over the next fifteen years from an entrepreneurial
perspective, leading to a vision for the year 2020.
Speakers and delegates engaged in
a stimulating exposition of just what opportunities and hurdles
Africa 's entrepreneurs and their backers will experience
in marching towards that vision. It is our hope that the conference
inspired a powerful cadre of change-agents from an impressive
delegation of entrepreneurs, managers, investors, public policy-makers
and students that attended.
