Andrew
Bainbridge, MD, Barclays Africa and Indian Ocean
Andrew took up the
role of Managing Director in late 2005 with responsibility
for the business portfolio in nine countries across Africa
and the Indian Ocean. In addition, Andrew has the responsibility
for the transaction regarding the aggregation of the Africa
and the Indian Ocean businesses into Absa over the next 24
months.
In late 2004, Andrew
was appointed as Chief Operating Officer with responsibility
for Risk, Finance, Strategy, Operations, Change and Treasury
in a business covering 12 countries across Africa and the
Middle East. This was in conjunction with his role as Business
Risk Director which he held since 2002.
Andrew has worked for
Barclays for 16 years and in his earlier career with the Bank
he held a variety of UK-based branch, regional and head office
roles. Previous roles include Segment and Change Management
Director for Larger Business Banking, Finance Director for
Africa, Assistant Corporate Director for London and other
roles within Corporate Banking.
Andrew holds a degree
in Law (LLB) and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute
of Bankers.
He is married with one daughter and lives in South Africa. |
