Twumasi, Founder and CEO, Africa Broadcasting
Network
George Twumasi, a UK
resident of Ghanaian origin, is the CEO of ABN Holdings Ltd
(www.abnafrica.tv).
ABN Holdings Ltd is a commercial programming and airtime sales
network that is actively developing joint-venture broadcasting
relationships with key broadcasters and broadcasting organisations
across sub-Saharan Africa.
George, the visionary
force behind ABN Holdings Ltd, is determined to drive into
fruition, a commercially viable “virtual” broadcasting network
spanning sub-Saharan Africa, which will simultaneously deliver
an empowering social enterprise business.
In addition to implementing
ABN's business plan, George has teamed up with Emmanuel Akyeampong
- Harvard College Professor, professor of history and of African
and African-American Studies, and chair of Harvard's Committee
on African Studies - to establish the African Public Broadcasting
Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit entity.
The African Public
Broadcasting Foundation's objective is to facilitate the dissemination
of relevant, development-enhancing knowledge - via the ABN
programme distribution platform, and to assist in the effective
development of public service broadcasting in sub-Saharan
Africa . It has already secured partnering commitments from
major public service broadcasters and content producers in
the United States.
Emmanuel Akyeampong
and George Twumasi are currently in negotiations with a reputable
New York firm of international development consultants to
assist in developing and marketing a business plan on behalf
of the African Public Broadcasting Foundation.
George Twumasi is a
Board member of the International Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences and an advisor on African Media Relations to
the Global Forum for Media Health. Both organisations are
committed to his drive to generate a robust pan-African television
broadcasting platform, which can make a positive impact on
the continent's social emancipation and economic development
aspirations.
