Sherazam Mazari
(51) was appointed Standard Chartered's Regional Chief Executive
for the African region in August 2004. He is based at
the Bank's Corporate Office in London.
Sherazam began his
banking career in 1979 at Citibank in Pakistan, where he joined
the Wholesale Bank as a Management Associate. By 1988,
Sherazam had moved into the role of country operations officer
with responsibility for Trade, Cash, and Custody Business
as well as operations, technology, human resources and finance.
In 1990, he went on to head the Retail Banking Business in
the country before moving to Turkey as General Manager Consumer
Bank in 1995-1998.
Sherazam joined
Standard Chartered Bank in February 1999 as Regional Head
Consumer Bank for Middle East South Asian Region (MESA), based
in Dubai. While in this role, he refreshed the Bank's
Regional Consumer Bank strategy and developed the Consumer
Bank integration plans for the Grindlays Bank acquisition.
He later moved to Singapore as Group Regional Head Consumer
Bank for China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and
Brunei - a position he held until his current post.
Sherazam holds a
Business Management degree. He is married with 3 daughters.
Outside of the work arena, Sherazam enjoys reading, history,
and riding. He was once a very keen rifle marksman.
